October 1 - 3, 2010 - NC Seafood Festival - On the Morehead City waterfront. Seafood, Free National & Regional musical entertainment and the cultural heritage and traditions that surround commercial fishing. Rides open Friday night on Morehead City's downtown waterfront. Weekend events include Seafood, Arts & Craft Vendors, a 8K road race, family fishing contests, sailing competitions and the Annual FREE Boat Show, SasSeas Island Playground Area for Children and the Blessing of the Fleet at 10:00 AM Sunday at the NC State Port. September 25 - October 9, 2010 - Annual Flounder Surf Fishing Tournament - Free registration (August 29-September 23) and excellent prizes! All flounder must be caught by fishing on foot (surf, pier, inlet, sound) from Fort Macon to Emerald Isle. Sponsored by Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation and The Reel Outdoors. October 4 - 9, 2010 - Onslow County Fair - Enjoy the amusements, exhibits, entertainment & fun food associated with county fairs, Onslow County Fairgrounds, Jacksonville, NC. For more information call (910)455-5873.

October 9 - 10, 2010 - Swansboro Mullet Festival - Parade, street carnival, arts & crafts, live entertainment, plenty of mullet and seafood. The event boasts of fresh mullet fried, smoked & any way you could want it. For more information call (910)-326-7370

October 9 - 10, 2010 - MUMfest - Live entertainment, hot local bands, amusement rides, kids’ activities and more! Roving street performers add to the fun as guests sample arts, crafts and festival foods. Family fun reaches new heights with a Ferris wheel, bungee trampoline, Adrenaline Rush, Sticky Wall, Ronald McDonald, Thomas the Train and model railroad train exhibits, puppet and magic shows. Kids enjoy face painting, finger painting, arts and crafts, pony rides, clowns, magicians, balloon art and more. The Chevy Racing Tour, Coca Cola Family Festival and 2008 model car show also rev up the fun. MUMfest visitors get their feet wet at the MUMfest Boat Show featuring boats up to 60’, boat rides, nautical displays and parasailing, and families can make maritime memories at the Hatteras Yachts Family Boat Building Weekend, all on the streets and waterfront of historic downtown New Bern, NC. October 13 - 16, 2010 - Calcutta Wahoo Challenge - Headquarters will be at Katherine Davis Park in downtown Morehead City under the big tent. The weigh station will be at the Gulf Dock from 3-6 pm Friday & Saturday. We encourage the public to come and enjoy the excitement as the big Wahoo come to the scales! Awards ceremony and exciting live auction will take place Sat. evening under the big tent. October 14 - 23, 2010 - Coastal Carolina Ag Fair - This year we have an all new fair presented by Amusements of America. Come out to the Craven County Fairgrounds in New Bern, NC and enjoy new and exciting things to see and do!! $5 per person at the gate. Armbands and individual ride tickets available inside. October 15 - 16, 2010 - Havelock Chili Festival - State chili cook-off, winner goes to national competition. Enjoy North Carolina’s Chili Cooking Competition along with live entertainment, food, games, arts and crafts, the Big Boy Toy Show and fun for the entire family. October 16, 2010 - Emerald Isle Triathlon - Presented by Emerald Isle Business Association and Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation. October 16, 2010 - Women's Expo - 10am-4pm at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 South Front Street, New Bern, NC. Free Admission. The Women's Expo is a day dedicated to the needs of women and their families. It's a fun filled day of shopping and entertainment along with educational information. A quality, fun, educational and interactive experience, Women's Expo will be filled with exhibitors from various businesses and professions and includes seminars, product and food samples, entertainment, demonstrations, on-site services, health screenings, women's community organizations, networking, door prizes, and fabulous marketing potential. October 23, 2010 - Beaufort Fall Gala & Art Show - This benefit is the social event of the year in Beaufort. A selected private home is the site of the gala evening. An artist is featured each year, and works of art are available for purchase. The evening benefits the Beaufort Historic Site's preservation work. October 25 - 26, 2010 - Carolina Kite Fest - The fest in Atlantic Beach is a two day schedule of kite-flying demos and activities held on the beach at The Sheraton, 2717 W. October 28 - 30, 2010 - New Bern Ghostwalk - Thursday, 5pm-9pm - Sneak Preview of Cedar Grove Cemetery and Historic Theatres, Friday 5pm-9pm and Saturday 5pm-9pm at New Bern's Downtown and Historic District. Spend three evenings in the 1920’s as the New Bern Historical Society takes you back in time during its annual Ghostwalk. This self-guided walking tour returns as local actors enliven famous characters of the roaring 20s. Visitors tour downtown historic sites, buildings, churches and homes where they encounter ghosts recalling New Bern during the 1920s. Tickets are good for all three nights: Thursday - cemetery and theatre previews, Friday and Saturday - full tours. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on days of event, active military (and spouses) and full time students with ID $10, children 3-12 years $5, children under 3 years free.
